on HEAR YE, HEAR YE, SHE RETURNS.

Oh hey internet. If it seems like I disappeared, that would be because I did. This whole running your own business thing.. was that my idea? Here's what I didn't factor in.. you ready? because this is a big time super amazing piece of advice: running a business centered around dogs and running a business centered around humans are very different.

More on this brilliance after an update on my life via instagram pics:

Tell me that's not some genius shit. No, but really, when I was running my own dog nannying business for the past 2.5 years, it was pretty easy. The dogs were perfect company, didn't mind if I had to take a phone call, were on a pretty solid routine, and were okay with sometimes not talking. People are very different. That being said, I'm pretty obsessed with coaching and am able to do it right alongside acting. Add in my other social media gig with, you know, life, and that should explain the disappearance. But today I realized that I really miss reading blogs and writing my blog so hopefully I'll be able to blog more frequently.

If you want to learn more about my coaching/consulting business, visit here.
The website is being redesigned soon so keep your eyes peeled for a re-launch!
If you're a blogger and want to be a part of a test run for a new part of coaching, write me.

Have a beautiful week, friends.

ON Floral Inspiration

I may or may not be a total wedding addict. Not in terms of going to them... but in terms of planning imaginary ones. Mine, friends, strangers, whoever. As of late, I've been having a (long, drawn out) moment with Floral design. Specifically, I love flowers in non-traditional containers. All of the options presented here are great, but mason jars will always have a special place in my heart (and my bedside table).

What flowers do you want/did you have at your wedding? Go on, share with the addict! ;)

ON Something About It

There is something about the way flowers present themselves to us - hello, I'm here, I'm open, I'm for you - that makes me fall in love with all of them, notice each one.

There is something about the way I seem to always be within feet of my favorite bloggers lately - at least according to instagram photos, posted of places I had just been at, too.

There is something about the fact that you can still surprise me, and the rapid speed at which you are doing it lately.

There is something about wearing heels in New York City that seems fleeting, and incredibly important to do now, while I still can.

There is something about saying no that feels powerful.

There is something about saying yes that feels powerful.

There is something about forgetting to respond, a phone on silent, an email inbox so full it causes winces upon sight, that is so completely okay, because it means I'm living.

There is something about the way it feels to just not know and be okay with that.

There is something about having a made up bed and a clean home that makes me feel calmer, more sane, and more productive.

There is something about Central Park that makes me think New York City is actually sort of wonderful.

There is something about having an audition for a musical that makes my stomach flip flop and my skin tingle in a way I thought I lost years ago.

There is something about releasing all expectations, letting it show up as it is, that makes everything seem sweeter.

There is something about this exact second that feels perfect and meant.

on PINK, pink everywhere (& my camera is back!)

when i was 17, i got this great idea to paint my bedroom pink. it was light blue-ish at the time and i thought no. no more of this. it's time for pink! so i went to the local home depot and picked out a disney paint color called 'princess pink' (could not make that up if i tried) and had my three male bff's at the time paint my room whilst i sat on the floor and talked. most people do that at 6, right? demand a pink room? princess pink, none the less. not me, i waited until 17.

so a handful of years (and one very pink college dorm room) later, i outgrew it all at once. all of it, the whole pink kabob. my room was re-painted mint green (i mainly sat and talked through this one, too) and the pink really left my life. when i moved into my latest place, i saw the blank wall in front of me and thought: light pink. a grown up pink! and no one was more shocked than i was.

being back in my room now, post LA, i was unpacking and cleaning up when i noticed something: PINK everywhere. the wall, my flowers next to my bedside table, lady's new travel bag and her favorite toy, her new collar, the jeans that i can't stop wearing, the dress that i longed for while away, and the latest painting i painted. (while i was painting it, i was chatting with a friend who was over, and told her that it needed pink, but i wasn't sure where to add it yet, however the painting would tell me where to put it. just in case you weren't sure if i was totally nuts or not.) just so much pink.

and you know what? i like it a whole lot :)

p.s. i know i included two pictures of the painting bc one has the pink wall in the background and the other has that cutie baby face little girl all snuggled up in the background and i sort of couldn't resist.

p.p.s. my camera and i have been reunited! this means a 50/50 chance of actually getting quality pictures around these parts! holler!

ON flowers, flowers i say!

valentine's day came with cupcakes from my favorite vegan bakery, dinner for him & tea for me.
(because one of us got stuck in traffic for two hours, and the other one gave up and ate dinner
for fear of immediate death from hunger. one of us is perhaps a touch dramatic.)

and there were flowers. flowers were brought. flowers were given.
and if you know me at all, you know flowers are my favorite.

and of course, a little pup, squished right in between, ready to pile on the love.
this valentine's day was the bee's knees. the bee's knees indeed.

p.s. did i mention there were flowers?

On Fueling Up

Lately, I've been refueling. See, sometimes I stop taking care of myself, in order to put others first.
Since everybody is different, that may work for some people. However, for me, I know I can't actually be of any use to anyone else if I am not taking care of myself first. I can't be a good friend, pup-parent, human, lover, giver, or healer if I'm not one with myself. So when I realize I've been slacking, I fuel up.

This means..
fresh flowers in my home
cleaning my living space
paying attention to what i'm eating (or not eating)
taking time to let my body rest
writing, writing, writing
listening to myself and then following through
dance parties (this is key, friends)
meditation, twice a day, every day
checking in with my life goals, setting 5 small ones for the week
not picking up my phone or responding to texts if i'm not truly available for the person
saying 'no' to invitations, social events, get-togethers, etc
wearing a tiara while at home (try it)
only reading books, listening to music, and watching shows that motivate me
cooking (instead of picking food up all the time)
lots of yogi tea in my favorite mugs
stretching
keeping an eye on what i think/say about myself
following my bliss (go get that latte, smile at strangers, sing at full volume)
creating art, painting, writing new songs, crafting, etc
loving myself extra

and the cool thing is when i realize i'm taking care of myself, i see these things in action. i'll literally have no idea where my phone is for the whole day, i'll be cooking up a storm, dancing around my house with that tiara on my head, laughing loudly and doing exactly what i want to do without worrying about anyone else.. and then i can go back to serving the world, fueled up and ready for life.

how do you take care of yourself?
xo

p.s. apparently, it is april 6th here in my house.. those tear off calendars always get me..

On Staying In

sometimes, if you're me anyway, it is very most best
to stay in on a friday night & buy yourself flowers & get your nails done
and curl up in your bed with your favorite pen and your journal
and just write & think & sit & breathe & relax.

sometimes, if you're me anyway,
it is very most exactly what you need.

On The Beach (& Little Feet)

on a Saturday at the beach, you are sure to find
lots of beautiful flowers, sand to sit in, a sun in the sky,
and lots of little feet running around (& even a few paws, if you're lucky).
on a Saturday at the beach, you are sure to find a whole lot of Love.
