On Headshots

Here is one of the strangest parts about being an actor:
at several points in your career, you will spend hours and days staring at photos of.. yourself.
Hundreds of photos of you, lots of them of your face/shoulder area.
You just click through photo after photo, your face after your face.
And somewhere around photo 378, they all start to blur together.
The trick here is to not over-think it. Don't ask too many people. Go with your gut instincts.
Keep in mind that this picture needs to represent you, not necessarily be a hot facebook photo.
It's about knowing who you are, not who you think you are in your mind or who people say you are.
And of course, remember, like the photo above, they will all be edited :)
Because nobody is without some damn gorgeous flaws.

p.s. this blog post came about from a need to do literally anything else but go through pics.
and now i'm sad that i'm done writing it because it means i will go back to them.
unless i perhaps take myself a little breaksie. mayhaps until the morning. yes, the morning indeed :)

p.p.s. photo by Phillip Spaeth

  1. This is a beautiful shot. And I hope you took a good break from sifting through photos. Maybe a break with tea.

  2. BANGS. I just feel like, now that I have them too, I need to comment on yours always. And I like the phrase "damn gorgeous flaws." One of my eyes is bigger than the other and it is accentuated when I'm sleepy. But when I stay up so late that I end up in pictures with my droopy eyelid, it usually means I'm doing something really adventurous or romantic. So I kind of like the sleepy eyelid.

  3. Great headshot girl, it is hard to look and critic our own photos. Kind of like hearing my voice on an answering machine, I feel like it's not me, but is, but is weird. Cuuuuute doggie, I want a doggie.

  5. edited or not - how long i looked at you. how beautiful you are, how old that sould looks and how brown those eyes, man!!! and your expression... i love how edgy this is and that you dont do the white-teeth-smile-version.

oh boy, you absolutely saved me with that button-hint. is was NOT working, but it was more than that. a battle between me and html, basically. now it should be working. if not, dont tell me. :)
