ON Further Proof I Am Out Of My Mind (Holiday Version)

In case you haven't caught on yet, I am one weird gal. Very enthusiastic, excited by things most people would find boring, pretty darn strange, a major nerd and mentally on a whole other planet.
This past Christmas, my sister captured some of my finer moments and I thought I'd share them with you here. So, without further adieu: Further Proof I Am Out Of My Mind. For example..
I get absurdly excited over things like quarters and stamps...
...but not nearly excited as I get over towels and sheets. There were tears, people.
The second I'm supposed to pose, I take it as to mean "strike a pose". And so many to choose from!

Sometimes my poses frighten small children. This can't be helped. When the spirit moves you, dance!

What's that? Group shot? I'll take front and center please. With a pose. AND A BOW!

I also have the ability to look 6 years old with a tilt of the head. A good party trick to have handy.

Sometimes when I need a break from regular poses, I pose with props.

Again with the towels and sheets. This is, in fact, a genuine reaction and NOT a pose. Do note the difference.

I also sometimes outfit match with seven month old babes. Check the socks, holler.

And, of course, am in love with my puppy. Who dutifully wore his Christmas jams the whole week.

I know what you're thinking: how is she possibly this cool?
I totally understand as I think the same thing all the time. With a little work, you too, can be this hip.
I also know for certain that if you weren't a dutiful blog reader yet, you sure are now.
I mean, everyone loves bloggers who post photos of themselves first thing in the morning, sans makeup, hair a fright, and in pajamas. Fashion bloggers unite, hello.

Stay tuned for a Christmas re-cap where there will be normal photos. And more of Henry's jams.
I hope your Christmas and Holiday Season has been just as wacky and weird :)
Happy Almost New Year! xo

On This Time Last Year

This time last year, there was lots of gatherings. Friends and family and a puppy with his stocking.
There was crafting and decorating and so many trees. There was White Christmas lots of times.
And there was ribbon tied in bows, on presents and naturally, in my hair. Because what is the holiday season without ribbon in hair and smiles on faces?

ON Christmas Everywhere

after the whirlwind of last week, i have just now processed that it's 18 days till christmas.
i know what you're thinking and yes, i am a genius. but, um, 18 days?! gah.
that being said, i've decided to actually open my eyes and take in the holiday goodness around me.
new york city sure does know how to decorate and within minutes, i had all of these pictures.
i'm scooting around town more today and can't wait to spy more lights & trees & wreaths.
i think my favorite tree is the one in the window at lincoln center (see first pic).
it makes me think of a tree inside the window of a home.. only it's a massive window & big tree.
but if lincoln center is where art lives, then this is art's christmas tree. so i sure do like it best.

how are you enjoying the holiday season so far?
have you done anything special or taken in pretty sights & sounds around you?

On Giving

As the holiday season nears, I often hear people talk about wanting to do something for their community. Love this kind of talk, right? But I also hear chatter of not knowing where to start.
Thus, I present to you, a darn good helpful little ditty from Real Simple (real simple addict over here..).
This list has pulled all of their charity related posts, featuring helpful sites like Volunteer Match
and lots of tips for when and how to give. Delightful, no? Yes.

If you're anything like me, you're like wait wait how can I help the arts and/or animals?!
(You guys, I did say if you're anything like me..)
How wonderful of you to ask! Petfinder can help you find shelters near you that need donations of money or supplies, or volunteers to help with the animals. AND, get ready here because I'm about to blow your mind.. but, if you can believe it, volunteering is FREE! Seriously, that just bowled me over, I had no idea we could get anything for free! And my, oh my, oh my, we sure do 'get' so very much from sharing our time by helping others, right? Right, right, right indeed.

this is one of my favorite pups at BARC, miss colleen

As for ye olde arts, I happen to big a big fan and supporter of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
This Broadway community staple raises money for what seems like an endless list - they truly cover such an incredible range of help. I highly encourage you to check out their site for more info.
with a cast full of people i love and a big ol' donation check to BCEFA

also, if you're not in the mood for gifts, you can sign up over at causes to ask for donations instead of presents for your birthday, a holiday, or even your wedding. you get to pick where the donations go!
and if you're like listen woman, i like presents.. perhaps you would fancy to make a donation to a charity in someone else's name. this will also mean one less tray of "i didn't know what to get everybody" brownies at your office. yes that's right: giving makes you skinny. you're sold, right?
happy beginning of the holidays, friends. xo
