On An Insta-update

a friend rang me tonight. he & i keep missing each other. phone calls, texts, tweets.

when we finally stopped laughing and saying hello, he said, in perfection summation:

"WHAT is your life?"

is there nothing better than a good friend to tell it like it is?

in related news, after i snapped this picture, my phone slipped from my hands & the screen shattered.

but, i mean, this picture is really good, right? so i figure it's worth it. we must sacrifice for our art!

sorry, that last part was the acting school child in me. shan't happen again.

in unrelated news, i spent 20 minutes today with one shoe on and the other clad only in a sock.

this was not intentional. this was from doing too many things at one time. quite the look.

On Adorableness

hello internets.

the picture above pretty much explains the last few days.

henry elliot and my momma and i were huddled up in NJ with no power, heat, etc.

we sure did have a lot of water though, and one handsome fella to snuggle with.

and then i got back to nyc yesterday! huzzah!

just in time to go pick up these beauties below.

i'm watching them while their mommy and daddy deal with hurricane repairs

and they are sweet as pie. the larger gentleman is ricky, the little girl is lulu.

just as i started to type this, i caught them holding paws. seriously.

for not knowing me or where they are.. they are dealing perfectly.

further proof that doggies know what's up and how to handle life :)

i hope all of you and your families are dry, safe, and enjoying electricity like never before.

On The Sweetest Words

This has been singing through my mind like my new favorite song all week.

The person who sent this is busy. I mean, BUSY. And 3,000 miles away.

And one of those people who I look up to in so many ways, someone I admire.

And it was so unexpected, it nearly knocked me over.

Sometimes, the people in my life will say something like this. Startling me.

Causing me to stop and focus and remember that I am more than how I see myself.

That I am more than my insecurities, more than my self-doubts, more than the messy ponytail and t-shirt.

These people are the mirrors in our lives, reflecting back to us who we are, how we are.

They're the people that see us - I mean, really see us - clearly, helping us to see ourselves, too.

And I sure am grateful for them.

On The Past Few Days

I want to tell you so many things, dear human reading this.

I want to tell you about last week with it's craziness and it's beauty.

I want to tell you about the party thrown on the roof of a hotel, providing the most fantastic views,

the party thrown for one of my best girls in the world,

the recording session for my first voice over,

the road trip to beautiful Ithaca, the joining of two gorgeous souls in marriage,

the best friends any girl could ask for draped in printed sheets, laughing.

I want to tell you about acting class and auditions,

and about seeing my beautiful baby pup.

I want to show you all of the pictures that come along with these things.

But, above all of these things, I want most.. to sleep :)

p.s. take note, if you're waiting on an email or text or call back from me,

it is on it's way, i swear. in the meantime, feel free to reach out again. just in case..

far as i'm concerned,

this is what Love looks like.

TruthFULL: sick

When she texted me to let me know that one of the little guys I babysit was sick,

that's when I should have said no.

But you know what I did instead? I said sure, absolutely, I'll even come early.

Internet: DO NOT LET ME DO THIS NEXT TIME.

This has been my view since Wednesday. I've been horizontal in my bed, my mom's bed, my sister's bed, the couch.. anywhere I can transition to sleep in a matter of seconds.

For a non-stop mover and shaker, this is literal torture.

So, naturally, I'm trying to find every single silver lining!

So, let's see.. here's what's great about being sick:

1. It has been nice to relax. Not something I'm great at.

2. Only eating soup is an instant diet.

3. Grand opportunity to be grateful for insurance.

4. Being reminded how much I'm loved. 

(My girlfriends brought liquids, trashy magazines and snacks.)

5. My favorite human brought me the giant tea seen above 

& proceeded to get in my bed and cuddle with me. 

Forget jewelry & flowers, tea wins my heart.

6. I realized I've been checked on from literally around the world.

7. My momma did my laundry for me!

8. And, you know, has been taking care of me for the past two days.

9. Although this little guy has declared himself officially on guard.

Hasn't left my side and seems to have no clue why we can't play.

(Also, food seems to still be okay to steal despite sickness.)

10. Gives me a lot of time to write blog posts for you to read, you lucky person.

FULLlife: Birthday Baby

A lovely birthday weekend!

My birthday was May 20th and I've been celebrating for the past few days...

with family & my baby pup:

with delicious vegan food (even the non-vegans loved it!):

by visiting BARC shelter & raising $620 for them:

with my best friends (& kale juice, naturally):

with mani/pedi's with my mom & wine:

I love my birthday!

my favorite part of the celebrating was definitely visiting BARC

& being surrounded by people that I love!

looking forward to a few more celebrations this week :)
