on LITTLE CHANGES, BIG IMPACT: The Chair Edition

This is the story of a chair. No, I'm totally kidding. Except, yes it is. Here's the deal: I got that gorgeous desk from craigslist awhile ago, maybe like six months. Twas my dream desk, twas free, and twas perfect. Due to this amazingness, I seemed to have missed one important aspect of having a desk.. using it. So while she became a great holder of books, and collector of important receipts, that was about it.

Enter in many changes made in my apartment as of late. Mama just about got on a nesting kick over here. And by nesting, I mean craigslist. And by craigslist, I mean holy crap I have a problem incredible gift for using craigslist.

It's interesting how a very small change can have a massive impact in your life. The night I got the chair home, and sat in it, well my whole world just about changed. I work at my desk now, in my desk chair, and it still gives me a thrill each time. Stay tuned for other updates on the little big changes around here. I know these are the exciting posts that keep you coming back for more. Oh, I know. I know indeed. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to go sit in my chair, after which, I shall look at my chair. Busy night.

ON It's Done, It's Done! (or, My New Room)

In case you didn't hear.. I moved! Here's a little peek into my finished room.

I've still got one or two tasks - a little DIY, a little painting - but for now, it's done!

When I moved into this new space I downgraded from having four pieces of furniture.. to having one.

It didn't exactly dawn on me that I wouldn't know what to do with all my stuff,

I only knew that I didn't need so many things and that I wanted a proper bedroom.

(As opposed to those everything-in-one-room spaces we young New Yorkers tend to have.)

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. There's an equal balance of vintage and kitschy (from upcycled tv trays turned nightstands, the beloved globe) with a touch of country (wooden hutch, lamp)

and the ever important whimsy (tiara, bright orange elephant, polka dotted hamper, instagrams).

My favorite thing in the room is the wooden hutch. It first belonged to my grandparents, then my parents, now me! I love the uniqueness of it, the varied shades of wood and it's many possibilities.

When I walk into this space, it feels like me. Home Sweet Home.

Next up? How the dirtiest kitchen in the world turned into a sunny, bright room.

On Pinstagram Prints

On the same day that the moo cards came, a package arrived from Pinstagram.

Cue the heavenly angel choir.

Tis like a dream, this here Pinstagram company is. All of my favorite instagrams in real, tangible pictures!

The pictures are all great quality (even when my shots weren't so great).

I ordered two different sizes and perhaps went a bit overboard by getting 24 large pics and 48 small ones.

I was kind of proud of my self-control, to be honest. I could've ordered 200, easy.

The only confusing part was there was no way to see what pictures I had already ordered in the first set when selecting ones for the second set. Otherwise.. signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours, Pinstagram.

Hanging them up is quite possibly the fastest and easiest DIY ever.

I hammered three nails into one of the blank walls in my room,

strung some of my favorite yarn and tied the ends onto nails,

purchased some mini-clothespins & pinned them along the yarn. Ta-da!

I felt very fancy, talented AND I got to use a hammer, so you know I was delighted.

Also, I tried not to order only photos of Henry, but I mean, is he not the most adorable ever?! Yes, yes he is.

On An Insta-update

a friend rang me tonight. he & i keep missing each other. phone calls, texts, tweets.

when we finally stopped laughing and saying hello, he said, in perfection summation:

"WHAT is your life?"

is there nothing better than a good friend to tell it like it is?

in related news, after i snapped this picture, my phone slipped from my hands & the screen shattered.

but, i mean, this picture is really good, right? so i figure it's worth it. we must sacrifice for our art!

sorry, that last part was the acting school child in me. shan't happen again.

in unrelated news, i spent 20 minutes today with one shoe on and the other clad only in a sock.

this was not intentional. this was from doing too many things at one time. quite the look.
